Refrigeration

Refrigeration is one of the largest consumers of electricity in commercial sector.  Here are just a few recommended actions you can take to improve their efficiency:

Clean cooling coils and condenser coils.

Install plastic strips in doorways of walk-in refrigerators and freezers.

On refrigerated display cases (not in freezers) with anti-condensation heaters, add controllers to adjust use based on humidity level.

On open refrigerated cases, install doors or plastic shields to prevent cooling loss.

Set temperature to match product requirements.

Shade condensers from direct sunlight.

Replace old-style plastic strip curtains with clear plastic double impact doors on doorways of walk-in boxes and refrigerated warehouses.

Select high-efficiency refrigeration units with an electronically commutated fan motor, T-8 lamps, and electronic ballast.

Install an evaporator fan controller for walk-in coolers
